Longhorns pick up singles wins from Leonardo Telles and George Goldhoff.
STILLWATER, Okla. – No. 6 Texas (18-5, 1-1 Big 12) collected singles wins from senior George Goldhoff and sophomore Leonardo Telles, but No. 8 Oklahoma State (18-4, 1-1 Big 12) held off the Longhorns by a 4-2 count Sunday afternoon at OSU's Greenwood Tennis Center.
Texas opened the match with a 6-2 win from freshman Christian Sigsgaard and sophomore Julian Zlobinsky over OSU's Artur Dubinski and Lukas Finzelberg at third doubles, but the Cowboys won at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles to earn the doubles point and a 1-0 match lead. The match relocated indoors for singles due to rain.
OSU pushed its lead to 2-0 behind Lucas Gerch's 6-4, 6-4 win over UT freshman Yuya Ito at third singles. The Cowboys extended their lead to 3-0 by way of a 7-5, 6-2 win from Arjun Kadhe over Texas sophomore Harrison Scott at second singles.
Telles put the Longhorns on the board with his 7-5, 6-1 win over the 69th-ranked Finzelberg at fifth singles to trim the OSU lead to 3-1. Texas senior George Goldhoff split his first two sets with OSU's Dubinski at fourth singles. Goldhoff picked up the one break he needed early in the third set and finished off Dubinski 6-3 in the third set to slice Texas' deficit to 3-2.
At sixth singles, UT sophomore Rodrigo Banzer kept the Horns in the match with his second-set tiebreak win that forced a third set against OSU's Tristan Meraut. Banzer yielded his serve midway through the final set, and Meraut finished off the set 6-3 to close out the Cowboys' victory. The lone remaining court, with UT's Sigsgaard engaged in a third-set tiebreaker with OSU's Cash at first singles, was suspended.

POST-MATCH COMMENTS
Texas head coach Michael Center
On today's match
This was a great college tennis match today. Oklahoma State put a lot of pressure on us. We played them earlier in the season (at the ITA National Team Indoors), but the matchups were different. They got out on top of us, and we were just fighting back. I was proud of the way the guys hung in there to give ourselves a chance, but we got too far behind today. Part of that was we didn't play well in a couple of spots, but I thought Oklahoma State was pretty good today. I need to give them credit as well.
On Texas' next home match against No. 4 Baylor
Every Big 12 match is such a struggle, such a battle, and I hope we have a great crowd next week when we play Baylor. We're coming down to the end of the regular season. It makes a huge difference to play in front of a big crowd, and I hope to see the stands full next week.
