Freshman Ashley Shook shares why she chose Texas, volleyball, and the best advice she has ever received.
Hometown: Plainfield, Ill.
Position: Setter
Interest of study: Human Dimensions of Organization with a minor in business
Q. Why did you choose Texas?
AS: I loved the girls on the team, the coaches, and campus and that we have a chance to win. The University of Texas felt like my home away from home.
Q. Why did you pick your jersey number?
AS: I have been number nine for school since seventh grade.
Q. When and why did you start playing volleyball?
AS: I started playing in fourth grade when my mom and aunt introduced it to me.
Q. What do you like to do in your spare time?
AS: Watch TV, relax, read, sleep.
Q. What is something that people might be surprised to know about you?
AS: I am an avid reader and I love listening to all different kinds of music.
Q. What is the best advice you have ever received?
AS: To never be afraid and always try to win.
Q. What is your favorite movie?
AS: The Hunger Games.
Q. What is your favorite sport other than volleyball?
AS: To play, soccer. To watch, football.
Q. What are you most looking forward to in being on campus?
AS: Getting to finally be in college and getting to know the girls on the team.
Q. How do your friends describe you?
AS: Outgoing, caring, respectful.
Q. Who is your favorite Texas Volleyball alum and why?
AS: Chloe Collins because she was awesome to watch and I love her personality.
