Men’s Golf’s Ghim, Scheffler selected to 2017 Walker Cup Team

Seniors Doug Ghim and Scottie Scheffler are two of 10 selected from around the country.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Men's Golf seniors Doug Ghim and Scottie Scheffler were selected to the 2017 Walker Cup Team, the United States Golf Association announced on Sunday.
Ghim and Scheffler are two of 10 players selected to the team, which will meet Great Britain and Ireland in the 46th Match at the Los Angeles Country Club's North Course on September 9 and 10.
The Walker Cup Match is a biennial amateur team competition between the USA and a team composed of players from Great Britain and Ireland. The Match is played over two days with 18 singles matches and eight foursomes matches.
Ghim advanced to the 36-hole championship match of the 2017 U.S. Amateur, was a second-team All-American and the Big 12 Conference Player of the Year as a junior at Texas, while Scheffler finished as the low amateur at the 2017 U.S. Open and was a second-team All-American in his junior season.
The USA leads the overall series, 35-9-1, but teams have split the last 14 meetings since 1989.
