Notes:
• Texas finished the VERT Challenge with a 1-1 record, falling to No. 12 Florida 1-3 (16-25, 23-25, 25-18, 21-25) in the first match of the season and bouncing back with a victory over No. 18 Oregon, 3-1 (23-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-23). Freshman Lexi Sun led the Longhorns in kills with 25 (3.12/set), while senior Chiaka Ogbogu led in hitting percentage at a .350 clip (18-4-40). Freshman Ashley Shook led in assists with 71 (8.88/set), senior Cat McCoy led in digs with 31 (3.88/set), and junior Morgan Johnson led in blocks with 13 (1.62/set). Ogbogu and Sun were named to the VERT Challenge All-Tournament team.
• The Longhorns will hit the road again for the USD Tournament in San Diego, Calif. There, they will face Villanova on Friday, Sept. 1 and will take on Georgia Tech on Saturday, Sept. 2 and No. 17 San Diego later that evening. It will mark the second time this season that Texas faces a ranked opponent on its home court.
• The Longhorns are in a six-way tie for the hardest ranked schedule through the first two matches of the season (NCAA), having faced ranked opponents in both of matches for the first time since 2009.
• Texas' opponents from the first two matches of the 2016 season, No. 3 Florida and No. 14 Oregon, both moved up in the latest AVCA Coaches poll (August 28th, 2017), from No. 12 and No. 18, respectively.
• No. 17 San Diego, Texas' final opponent of the USD Tournament, also moved up in the coaches poll, from No. 22.
• Senior Chiaka Ogbogu leads the Longhorns in hitting percentage (.385) and service aces (3), while ranking second in kills (18) and total blocks (11).
• Freshman Lexi Sun leads the Longhorns in kills (25), recording 28.4% of Texas' kills. Sun is ranked 45th nationally in attempts per set, with her 95 swings constituting 33.57% of the team's total of 283.
• Junior Morgan Johnson leads the Longhorns with 13 blocks and ranks 26th nationally in blocks per set, as the Longhorns rank 16th nationally in blocks per set. Johnson also ranks fifth on the team in kills (ten), and has the third-highest hitting percentage (.318).
• Senior Ebony Nwanebu ranks third on the team for digs, with 16 and brings the second-highest hitting percentage at .333. Nwanebu has also recorded eight block assists, the third-most on the team.
• Shook leads Texas with 71 assists through her first two matches as a Longhorn and ranks second on the team for digs, with 21.
• Ogbogu and Nwanebu rank second and third on the team, respectively, in both kills and blocks. Ogbogu recorded 18 kills and 11 blocks in Texas' first two matches, while Enwanebu recorded 16 kills and eight blocks.
• McCoy leads Texas with 31 assists, and is ranked joint-second on the team for assists, with three.
• Texas ranks 16th in the nation for blocks per set and has two players ranked in the top 100 for blocks-per-set; Morgan Johnson, 26th with 1.62 per set; Chiaka Ogbogu, 74th with 1.38 per set.
