Notes:
• No. 5 Texas opened the Big 12 with a five-set victory over West Virginia in Morgantown on Saturday. Four players finished with double-digit digs and three had double-digit kills. Sophomore Micaya White and freshman Lexi Sun led with double-doubles as White posted 16 kills (.297) and 25 digs, while Sun had 13 kills (.258) and 11 digs. Senior Cat McCoy led the Longhorns in digs for the 10th time this season with 16, while junionr Morgan Johnson posted a career-high 10 blocks in the match.
• Johnson is averaging 1.53 blocks per set, just slightly behind senior Chiaka Ogbogu's 1.56 blocks per set to lead the country with 3.49 blocks per set. The Longhorns lead the second-place team (Washington) by .17 (3.32 blocks per set). Johnson posted 10 blocks at West Virginia, the most by any Texas player so far this season.
• Last time at Gregory Gym, the Longhorns' 17-match home winning streak came to an end with a 3-1 defeat against No. Minnesota. In Big 12 play at home, Texas has not dropped a match since 2014 (Oct 25, 3-0 vs. Oklahoma), a streak of 19 matches.
• The Longhorns are an undefeated 20-0 in Big 12 Conference home-openers. Since defeating Baylor 3-0 in the program's first Big 12 home match (Oct 2 1996), Texas are 6-0 in meetings with Baylor in Big 12 home-openers.
• Texas returns to Gregory Gym after three-straight road matches, a run that included victories against Texas A&M, UTSA, and West Virginia in the Longhorns' Big 12 opener. Before a five-set victory over West Virginia, Texas did not drop a set in two straight-set wins.
• Baylor is on a seven-match winning streak, dropping one set through wins against Texas Tech (3-1) and TCU (3-0)] in a 2-0 start to Big 12 Conference play. The Bears will be looking for their first victory in Austin on a 42nd attempt, with the Longhorns leading the series 79-2.
• Baylor's No. 12 nationally ranked 14.59 kills/S and No. 17 ranked .275 hitting percentage will match up against the Longhorn's top-ranked defense (blocks/set). While the Bears have hit above .300 in their last four matches, Texas has been holding opponents to an average hitting percentage of .129 per match.
• Freshman setters, Texas' Ashley Shook and Baylor's Hannah Lock, both lead their teams in assists. Lockin's 10.86/set leads Shook's 10.00/set, while the pair are respectively ranked first and third in the Big 12 for assists per set through the first week of conference play.
