- The Longhorns will again be without a pair of important starters this weekend as freshman midfielder Julia Grosso (seven UT matches played/six starts) and freshman defender Emma Regan (eight matches played/eight starts) continue action with the Canadian Women's Senior National Team at the CONCACAF Women's Championship (Oct. 5-17). The international duo has missed all five of Texas' Big 12 contests this season (against Baylor, at No. 13 Oklahoma State, at TCU, at Iowa State and at No. 16 West Virginia), while Grosso also missed the Long Beach State and Stephen F. Austin matches due to a Team Canada friendly against Brazil. Texas joins Florida State and UCLA as the only three NCAA schools to have two players out during the event.
- Regan earned her first career Senior National Team cap for Canada this past Monday night during a 12-0 rout of Cuba, after coming off the bench at halftime, while Grosso received her seventh career cap as a midfield starter.
- Four Longhorns were recently named to either Top Drawer Soccer's NCAA Division I Midseason Top 100 or Top 100 Freshmen rankings. Junior forward Cyera Hintzen (No. 28) and senior defender Paige Hooper (No. 78) made the National Top 100, while midfielder Julia Grosso (No. 7) and defender Emma Regan (No. 14) made the Top 100 Freshmen listing.
- The Burnt Orange & White lead their overall "Red River Showdown" series against Oklahoma by a 13-9-2 count, including 7-2-1 all-time in Austin. OU has had the best of the recent series, however, going 2-0-1 over the teams' last three meetings. The Sooners also ended UT's school record-tying 11-match winning streak in 2017 with a 0-0 (2OT) deadlock in Norman, Okla.
- Texas is taking the mantra of "defending your home turf" to heart as the Longhorns are a perfect 7-0-0 at Mike A. Myers Stadium in 2018. UT has now won eight consecutive home contests (including last year's NCAA First Round victory over North Texas) and 17 of their last 19 home match-ups overall. The program record for the longest home winning streak is 14 straight matches established over the 2004 & 2005 seasons.
- After going just 2-8 during one-goal matches during the 2016 season, the Longhorns have since turned around their fortunes in such contests by going a remarkable 17-5 over their last 22 one-goal matches since beginning 2017 and are 6-2 in 2018.
- Senior forward Alexa Adams has tallied at least one point in six of her last 10 matches. Sophomore midfielder Haley Berg has now totaled two points in five of UT's last 10 contests and junior forward Cyera Hintzen has points in four of the last five matches. In all, Hintzen has registered at least one point in 11-of-14 matches this season and at least two points in nine-of-14 (goals in eight-of-14).
- The Burnt Orange & White are an impressive 7-2-5 in overtime matches combining the 2017 & 2018 seasons and have gone to at least one extra session in 14 of their last 29 contests.
- Texas has scored first in 10 of its 14 matches during the 2018 campaign, and the Longhorns have trailed for only 129:56 (parts of matches against Texas State, Baylor, No. 13 Oklahoma State, TCU and No. 16 West Virginia) out of 1303:08 of match time so far this season. Texas has scored first in 26 of its last 35 total matches dating back to the start of 2017.
- The Longhorns were ranked No. 15 in the fourth release of the NCAA Division I Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) on Monday. Texas ranks second in the Big 12, behind Baylor (eighth), and is one of six total league schools in the RPI Top 28. The Big 12 also ranked second this week in conference RPI.
- The Longhorns have wasted no time this season jumping on their opponents as UT has outscored the opposition during the first halves of matches by a combined total of 16-5. Only Texas State, No. 23 UCF, Baylor, No. 13 Oklahoma State and Iowa State have managed to locate the net during the opening 45 minutes of play against Texas this year.
- Texas began the season by scoring in each of its first 11 matches, tying the 2017, 2000 and 1997 Longhorns teams for the second-longest consecutive match scoring streak to open a campaign in program history. UT failed to find the net against TCU, coming up just one contest short of equaling the school record of 12 straight matches with a goal to begin a year managed by the 1994 squad.
