- The Longhorns will again be without a pair of important starters for both matches this weekend as freshman midfielder Julia Grosso (seven UT matches played/six starts) and freshman defender Emma Regan (eight matches played/eight starts) made the 20-player Canadian Women's Senior National Team roster for the CONCACAF Women's Championship (Oct. 5-17). The international duo has missed all three of Texas' Big 12 contests this season, against Baylor, at No. 13 Oklahoma State and at TCU, while Grosso also missed the Long Beach State match due to a Team Canada friendly against Brazil.
- The Burnt Orange & White continue their season-long four-match road trip this weekend at Iowa State and No. 16 West Virginia. UT is 21-3-1 all-time and 8-2-1 on the road against the Cyclones, but lost to ISU in its last visit to Ames on Oct. 14, 2016, 2-0. The Longhorns are just 2-5-1 all-time against West Virginia and 0-2-0 in Morgantown, losing 2-0 during the last trip to WVU back on Sept. 25, 2015. Texas managed to end a 0-5-1 series skid versus the Mountaineers last season with a 1-0 victory in Austin.
- Texas enters Sunday's match at No. 16 West Virginia with a 1-0-2 mark against ranked teams this season and a 3-2-2 record against rated squads combining the last two years.
- After going just 2-8 during one-goal matches during the 2016 season, the Longhorns have since turned around their fortunes in such contests by going a remarkable 16-4 over their last 20 one-goal matches since beginning 2017 and are 5-1 in 2018.
- The Burnt Orange & White are an impressive 7-2-5 in overtime matches combining the 2017 & 2018 seasons and have gone to at least one extra session in 14 of their last 27 contests.
- Texas began the season by scoring in each of its first 11 matches, tying the 2017, 2000 and 1997 teams for the second-longest consecutive match scoring streak to open a campaign in program history. UT failed to find the net against TCU, coming up just one contest short of equaling the school record of 12 straight matches with a goal to begin a year managed by the 1994 squad.
- The Longhorns were ranked No. 10 in the third release of the NCAA Division I Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) on Tuesday. Texas ranks second in the Big 12, just behind Baylor (ninth), and is one of six total league schools in the RPI Top 26. The Big 12 also ranked second this week in conference RPI.
- Senior forward Alexa Adams has tallied at least one point in five of her last eight matches. Sophomore midfielder Haley Berg has now totaled two points in four of UT's last eight contests, senior midfielder Katie Glenn has points in four of the last eight contests and junior forward Cyera Hintzen has points in four of the last five matches. In all, Hintzen has registered at least one point in nine-of-12 matches this season and at least two points in eight-of-12 (goals in seven-of-12).
- The Longhorns have wasted no time this season jumping on their opponents as UT has outscored the opposition during the first halves of matches by a combined total of 14-4. Only Texas State, No. 23 UCF, Baylor and No. 13 Oklahoma State have managed to locate the net during the opening 45 minutes of play against Texas this year.
- Texas began the new season at No. 17 in the preseason United Soccer Coaches poll released on Aug. 7. The preseason ranking marked the first for the Burnt Orange & White since beginning the 2009 campaign at No. 15. On the strength of its 9-1-2 start, UT now sits at No. 11 in the Top Drawer Soccer poll and No. 13 in both the United Soccer Coaches and Soccer America rankings. Texas has now appeared in each of the last 18 United Soccer Coaches poll releases dating back to Sept. 12, 2017. UT climbed as high as No. 6 in the Sept. 25th edition of both the TDS and Soccer America polls, marking the highest ranking in any poll for Texas since a No. 4 nod in Soccer America back on Sept. 9, 2008.
- With her seventh-minute goal against Northern Colorado (Sept. 16), junior forward Cyera Hintzen registered her ninth career match-winning score. The Garland, Texas, native now owns nine match-winners over her 21 career goals, meaning that 43% of the time she's scored, it has been to win a contest.
- Texas has scored first in eight of its 12 matches during the 2018 campaign, and the Longhorns have trailed for only 119:42 (against Texas State, Baylor, No. 13 Oklahoma State and TCU) out of 1123:08 of match time so far this season. Texas has scored first in 24 of its last 33 total matches dating back to the start of 2017.
