Junior Petra Granic falls in consolation singles; Granic and Markovic drop consolation doubles match.
PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — The University of Texas had its run at the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships come to an end on Friday afternoon.
Junior Petra Granic, No. 40 in the Oracle/ITA preseason national singles rankings, fell 6-2, 6-1 to Stanford's 10th-ranked Michaela Gordon of Stanford in a consolation singles first-round match. Earlier in the tournament, Granic had won three qualifying matches over a span of two days to become the first Longhorn to qualify for the main draw since Breaunna Addison in 2015.
Granic and sophomore Bojana Markovic, No. 21 in the Oracle/ITA preseason national doubles rankings, fell 8-4 to Winthrop's ninth-ranked duo of Lauren Proctor and Megan Kauffman in a consolation doubles first-round match.
