Labraña wins twice in singles to move to Sunday’s title match; Labraña and Poluta advance to doubles championship.

WACO, Texas — University of Texas sophomore Fernanda Labraña recorded a pair of singles wins and teamed with senior Katie Poluta to post a doubles victory on Saturday to advance to the championship match in both singles and doubles at the H-E-B Invitational. Labraña will face Maria Genovese of Tyler Junior College in Sunday's singles championship (10 a.m. CT), while Labraña and Poluta will meet Maria Toran Ribes and Malkia Ngounoue of Kansas in Sunday's doubles title match (1 p.m. CT).

Due to rain in Waco on Saturday morning, the singles quarterfinals were played at Baylor University's indoor facility. In the afternoon and evening, the singles semifinals and doubles semifinals were held at the Waco Regional Tennis Center.

Labraña defeated Baylor's Jessica Hinojosa in three sets (6-2, 1-6, 6-3) in Saturday morning's singles quarterfinals at the indoor courts. After moving outdoors, Labraña rallied for a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory against Kansas' Toran Ribes in the semifinals.

Following her pair of singles victories, Labraña teamed with Poluta for a 6-2 win against LSU's duo of Luba Vasilyuk and Paris Corley in the doubles semifinals. Poluta dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision to Toran Ribes in Saturday morning's singles quarterfinal round.

Sunday's action is set to begin at 10 a.m. CT and will be held at the Hurd Tennis Center on the campus of Baylor University.
