The All-Time Series
• Texas and Iowa State meet as ranked foes on Saturday night. The only other time they've both been ranked in their previous 15 meetings was in 2002, when the No. 7/7 Longhorns beat the No. 17/18 Cyclones 21-10 in Austin.
• UT is 13-2 all-time against Iowa State, including a mark of 7-1 in games played in Austin.
• The Longhorns have won two straight over Iowa State, including last season's 17-7 victory in Ames.
• Herman was ISU's offensive coordinator from 2009-11.
Ehlinger By The Numbers
• True sophomore Sam Ehlinger passed for 312 yards and a career-high four touchdowns in Saturday's win over Texas Tech.
• Ehlinger has completed 205-of-319 passes for 2,483 yards (12th in school history) and 20 touchdowns this season. He has also rushed for 343 yards and nine scores.
• Ehlinger has thrown just two interceptions, and has currently attempted a school- and Big 12-record 280 consecutive passes without an INT.
• Ehlinger is the 10th Longhorn to eclipse 4,000 career passing yards. He currently sits 10th with 4,398 career passing yards. His 31 career touchdown passes are tied with David Ash for eighth-most in school history.
• He has totaled 2,826 yards (2,483 pass/343 rush) this season, moving into 11th in school history for total offense in a season. Only eight QBs have ever eclipsed 3,000 yards of total offense in a season. For Ehlinger's career, he currently ranks 10th in school history with 5,126 yards (4,398 pass/728 rush) of total offense.
• Ehlinger became the first Longhorn QB since Colt McCoy in 2008 to have at least two TD passes and one rushing TD in three straight games (Tulsa, USC, TCU).
• He is the first Longhorn QB since Vince Young in 2005 (Oct. 15 vs. Colorado) to rush for three touchdowns and pass for two more in a game. Just McCoy (twice) and Chris Simms have had more TDs in a game since 2000.
• He passed for more than 200 yards in six-straight games to begin the season, becoming the first Longhorn QB since McCoy in 2007 to do so. McCoy (8 straight 2007), Applewhite (11 straight 1999) and Peter Gardere (7 straight 1992) are the only other Longhorn QBs to have longer streaks to begin a season in school history.
• Ehlinger was the first Longhorn QB ever to pass for at least 200 yards and two touchdowns in each of the season's first four games.
• In 2017, Ehlinger passed for 1,915 yards and rushed for 385. He was the first Texas quarterback since Colt McCoy in 2008 to lead the Longhorns in both passing and rushing yards in a season.
• Ehlinger became the first freshman QB in school history (true or redshirt) to rush for 100 yards in consecutive games, and just the third freshman QB to do so twice in a season (Vince Young, '03; Jerrod Heard, '15), when he did so against Kansas State and Oklahoma in 2017.
• Ehlinger has 15 career 200 yards games, sixth-most in school history. He also has four career 300-yard games, tied with David Ash and Chris Simms for fourth-most in school history.
• Ehlinger has seven games this season of three-or-more touchdowns responsible for, behind only Colt McCoy (10, 2008) and Vince Young (9, 2005).
Lil'Jordan, Big Impact
• Lil'Jordan Humphrey caught eight passes for a career-high 159 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's win at Texas Tech.
• He caught a game-winning, 29-yard touchdown with 21 seconds left to break a 34-34 tie with the Red Raiders.
• He leads the team with 63 catches (10th UT single season history) for 947 receiving yards (9th) and seven touchdowns.
• Humphrey is looking to become the ninth player in school history with a 1,000-yard receiving season, and the first since John Harris in 2014.
• Humphrey became the first Longhorn since Mike Davis in 2012 to register 100 receiving yards in back-to-back games.
• In fact, Humphrey is just the fourth player in school history (Roy Williams, 2002; Wane McGarity, 1998; Mike Adams, 1993) with 140-or-more receiving yards in back-to-back games.
• He has a catch in 20 consecutive games.
• Humphrey's impact has gone far beyond just catching the ball this season.
• In addition to his seven receiving touchdowns, Humphrey also has a passing and a rushing touchdown.
• The last Longhorn to register at least one passing, rushing and receiving touchdown in the same season was QB David Ash in 2011. The last non-quarterback to do so was Darryl Clark in 1982.
• Humphrey is just the fourth Longhorn since 1980 (Ash, 2011; Peter Gardere, 1992; Darryl Clark, 1982) to record at least one passing, rushing and receiving touchdown in the same season and just the eighth in that time span to do it in their career (Jerrod Heard, 2015-active; Ash; Ricky Williams, 1995-98; Curtis Jackson, 1992-94, '96; Gardere; Eric Metcalf, 1985-88; and Clark).
Two-Headed Monster, Part I
• Junior wide receivers Lil'Jordan Humphrey and Collin Johnson have combined for 113 receptions, 1,622 yards and 12 touchdowns so far this season.
• Fifty-one FBS teams have at least one receiver with 50-plus catches so far this season, but Texas is one of just 10 to have two receivers with 50-or-more catches.
• The 10 schools are TEXAS, Ball State, Hawaii, Ole Miss, Nebraska, NC State, Ohio State, Old Dominion, Texas Tech and Washington State.
• Humphrey (63) and Johnson (50) became just the eighth WR duo in school history to both eclipse the 50-catch mark in the same season (also 1998, 1999, 2007, 2008, 2012, 2013, 2014). A UT player has had 50 catches in a season just 26 times in school history.
Sustained Scoring Drives
• Four of UT's first five scoring drives on Saturday were more than 10 plays and each took over four minutes off the clock.
• Texas's second scoring drive was a season-long as it took 18 plays to cover 60 yards in 8:10.
• The Longhorns have now had 17 scoring drives this season of 10-or-more plays. That mark is tied for the sixth-most in the country.
• Of UT's 17 scoring drives of 10-or-more plays, 11 of them have gone for touchdowns while six of them have ended in field goals.
Big 12's High-Powered Offenses
• The Texas defense has played against some of the nation's best offenses this season, especially in the last three weeks.
• In the last three games, UT has faced the country's No. 11, 12 and 7 (in total offense) rated offenses in Oklahoma State, West Virginia and Texas Tech, respectively.
• Those three opponents are all ranked in the Top 10 nationally for passing offense. When you add in Baylor (20th) and Oklahoma (9th), Texas has faced one of the nation's Top 20 passing offenses in each of its last five games.
• In terms of scoring offense, the Longhorns have played Oklahoma (2nd, 49.0 ppg), Texas Tech (9th, 41.8), West Virginia (10th, 39.2) and Oklahoma State (13th, 39.2) in four of their last five games.
