No. 5 Volleyball advances to 13th-straight Sweet 16 with sweep over Texas State

Freshman Logan Eggleston led Texas with 16 kills on a career high .609 efficiency.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 5 Texas Volleyball defeated Texas State, 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-14) at Gregory Gym on Friday night to advance to the program's 31st 2018 NCAA Sweet 16.
Two Longhorns recorded double-digit kills, led by freshman Logan Eggleston with 16 kills on 23 swings (.609) followed by junior Micaya White with 11. Senior Yaasmeen Bedart-Ghani had eight kills (.636).
Freshman Sydney Petersen led Texas with 12 digs. Juniors Claire Hahn and White followed with eight and seven digs, respectively.
Senior Morgan Johnson and freshman Brionne Butler led the Longhorns with three blocks, while freshman Jhenna Gabriel led the Longhorns with 35 assists.
Texas had five service aces. White had three aces while Gabriel added one each.
Texas will play the winner of No. 12 Pittsburgh v. Michigan in the NCAA Regional Semifinal. On the other side of the bracket, BYU will face Utah in the second round to determine hosting rights.
