MEET NOTES
The Matchup – The last time these two squads saw each other was at the 2018-19 NCAA Championships with the Longhorns earning a first-place finish while the Volunteers finished just outside the top-10 at No. 11.
A Look at the Longhorns – Texas will be on the road for the first time this season and facing its fourth-straight top-20 opponent. In the last time out for the Longhorns, Texas secured 11 wins out of 16 events in a dual meet against Texas A&M. John Shebat put down the top time in the NCAA this year in the 200 IM (1:45.58) and eighth-fastest in the 100 back (47.34) against the Aggies while Chris Yeager has the 10th-fastest in the 1000 free (9:05.62). Ryan Harty set the third-fastest pace in the 200 back (1:44.08) in a meet earlier in the season and Austin Katz rounds out the top-five in the same event with a 1:44.44 time.
A Look at the Volunteers– After falling in their first meet of the 2018-19 campaign, Tennessee has reeled off three-straight wins. The Volunteers won 12 of 16 events in their wins over No. 24 Wisconsin and No. 25 Purdue.
Windle Dives into Big 12 Honors - Sophomore Jordan Windle earned his sixth career Big 12 Diver of the Week award on Oct. 31 after a second-place finish in the 3-meter and taking third in the 1-meter in a dual meet against Florida and Indiana. He was only one of two divers to place in the top-3 in the double dual.
Horns Continue to Reload – Texas raked in the top-ranked recruiting class this year, highlighted by Drew Kibler whose top 200 free time would have qualified him for the final at the 2018 Championships. Danny Krueger will bolster the short distance freestyle for UT, while Matthew Willenbring and Jason Park were both top-20 recruits.
Next Up – The Texas divers will be back at the Texas Swimming Center for the Texas Hall of Fame Diving Invitational from Nov. 14-16 and the swimmers will compete in the Texas Swimming Hall of Fame Invitational two weeks later.
