After collecting a win and a save last week, junior Nolan Kingham garnered Pitcher of the Week honors.
IRVING, Texas—After earning both his second save and his fourth win of the season last week, junior right-hander Nolan Kingham was named Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league announced today.
Kingham contributed in a major way on two occasions last week. With Texas leading No. 25 Sam Houston State by one on Tuesday night, Kingham entered in relief and threw a perfect ninth inning to shut the door and notch his second save of the season.
The junior returned on Saturday afternoon with the start against Oklahoma State. He proceeded to sit down the first nine in order, retiring 12 straight overall dating back to Tuesday. Kingham finished with an eight-inning effort on Saturday, allowing just one run while scattering seven hits. He did not allow a walk during his nine innings on the week and he struck out six total, including five on Saturday to draw the series with Oklahoma State even.
The weekly honor is the second for Kingham this year, but first from the conference. He previously earned a Perfect Game/Rawlings National Pitcher of the Week nod following his opening night start against Louisiana.
Texas Baseball returns to action tomorrow at 6 p.m. at Texas State in San Marcos.
