No. 8 Women's Golf concludes day one of NCAA Championship

The Longhorns are led by senior Sophia Schubert's three-over-par 75.
STILLWATER, Okla. - The No. 8 Texas women's golf team recorded a 21-over-par 309 on Friday at Karsten Creek Golf Club to stand in 18th place following the first 18 holes of the 2018 NCAA Championship.
No. 6 Southern California currently holds the team lead with a three-over-par 291, while No. 1 Alabama is second with a four-over-par 292 and No. 3 UCLA is third with a six-over-par 294. No team in the field on Friday shot under par and just 10 individuals in the field finished their rounds under par.
Among teams in the field, Texas was third-best on Friday in par-five scoring (4.70, -6) and tied for third-best on par-three holes (3.10, +2).
Senior Sophia Schubert led the Longhorns with a three-over-par 75. She recorded 13 pars and a birdie on her opening 18 holes of the NCAA Championship. Schubert is currently in a tie for 35th place in the individual standings.
Freshman Agathe Laisne turned in a four-over-par 76, which included a team-best five birdies. Laisne tied for the third-best average among individuals in Friday's field on par-five scoring (4.25, -3).
Sophomore Emilee Hoffman and freshman Kaitlyn Papp each carded seven-over-par 79s, while sophomore Greta Isabella Voelker charted an 11-over-par 83.
