No. 8 Women's Golf advances to fourth round at NCAA Championship

STILLWATER, Okla. - The No. 8 Texas women's golf team fired a three-over-par 291 on Sunday to rocket itself into 13th place following 54 holes at the NCAA Championship. As one of the top-15 teams in the field, the Longhorns advance to Monday's final 18 holes of stroke play at Karsten Creek Golf Club.

The Longhorns, who have recorded a three-round total of 900 (309-300-291), will tee off beginning at 11:30 a.m. CT Monday from hole 10. Golf Channel will begin live coverage of the NCAA Championship at 3 p.m. CT on Monday. Texas will be in a group with No. 15 Washington and No. 25 Louisville.

The top-eight teams on the leaderboard following Monday's round (a combined total from the 72 holes of stroke play) will advance to the match-play quarterfinals, which take place Tuesday morning.

"I'm proud of my team's play today," Texas head coach Ryan Murphy said. "We will need to be tough tomorrow."

For the second day in a row on Sunday, No. 1 Alabama turned in the best team round of the day and the Crimson Tide lead the team field with a two-under-par 862 (292-286-284). No. 3 UCLA is in second place with a six-over-par 870 (294-279-297) is in second with a six-over-par 870, while No. 9 Arizona is in third with a 16-over-par 880 (301-291-288).

Freshman Kaitlyn Papp, the 2018 Big 12 Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, led the Longhorns for the second consecutive day, carding a two-under-par 70 on Sunday. She is tied for 30th in the individual standings with a five-over-par 221 (79-72-70). Papp made a team-best four birdies in the third round and notched her team-leading 20th round this season at par or better.

Senior Sophia Schubert recorded an even-par 72 on Sunday and is tied for 35th place individually with a six-over-par 222 (75-75-72). Schubert totaled three birdies and 12 pars in the third round. It was her 15th round at par or better this season.

Freshman Agathe Laisne is at 13-over-par with a 229 (76-77-76), while sophomore Emilee Hoffman recorded her best round of the week on Sunday and is at 17-over-par with a 233 (79-81-73). Sophomore Greta Isabella Voelker is at 27-over-par with a 243 (83-76-84).
