Jason and Justin McMinn along with their wives, Heather and Kendall, respectively, have committed a $1 million gift to the new baseball player development facility.
AUSTIN, Texas—Avid supporters of Texas Baseball and Texas athletics, brothers Jason and Justin McMinn, along with their wives, Heather and Kendall, respectively, have committed $1 million toward the baseball program's new player development facility, University of Texas Vice President and Athletics Director Chris Del Conte announced on Wednesday.
Jason, a member of the Texas Baseball team from 1999-2000, graduated from the McCombs School of Business in 2001 before earning his law degree and returning to Austin to found the McMinn Law Firm. Suiteholders since 2009, the McMinns can often be found at UFCU Disch-Falk Field but they also made the trip to Omaha this past summer for Texas' NCAA-record 36th trip to the College World Series.
"First off, we're huge baseball fans," Jason said. "We go to all the games and we love the baseball team, the baseball program. You know, you're a student-athlete but you're a student first and often times you end up going pro in something else. It's nice to give back to what enabled Justin and I to go 'pro' practicing law. Without a degree from The University of Texas and the doors that it opened, I doubt any of this would've been possible for us."
Justin, a Silver Spur and member of the 2000 Texas Football team, graduated with his bachelor's degree from Texas in 2004 and upon earning his law degree, joined his brother at the McMinn Law Firm where the two are now partners.
"Giving back to the community where you got started is really important," said Justin. "To know where you came from and how you got to this position where you can give back to a place like The University of Texas is significant and when Jason first mentioned the idea to me, I thought it was a great idea."
The gift provided by the McMinns will aid in the construction of the indoor baseball training facility which is scheduled to break ground in the coming months.
"The McMinns are some of the most passionate fans and supporters of our baseball program and of Texas athletics," Del Conte said. "This incredibly generous gift, which will undoubtedly help our baseball program to thrive going forward, only further exemplifies their commitment and dedication to Texas."
The McMinn Law Firm is made up of Jason, Justin, and Heather who proudly serve Central Texas as Austin lawyers for personal injury claims and car accident injury recovery. For more information, visit mcminnlaw.com.
