AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Longhorns standout Carson Tinney was named the Buster Posey National Catcher of the Week, the College Baseball Foundation announced Tuesday afternoon.
Tinney — who was also tabbed the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week and the Perfect Game Co-Player of the Week — totaled a .538 average with three home runs, 10 RBI and a 1.933 OPS to lead Texas to a three-game sweep over Missouri.
The 6-foot-4, 240-pound backstop homered three times in four at-bats, punctuated by his 456-foot grand slam that sailed over the 32-foot "Monster" in center field at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
With his second grand slam of the year, Tinney became the fifth Longhorn to record 20 blasts in a single season.
In Friday's series-securing 11-6 victory, the junior delivered his seventh career multi-homer performance and notched a career-high six RBI. Tinney capped off the weekend by reaching safely five times, highlighted by three hits and three RBI.
On Monday, the Castle Pines, Colo., native was among the 16 semifinalists for the 2026 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award.
A finalist for the prestigious honor a year ago, Tinney is aiming to become the first Buster Posey/Johnn Bench Award winner in program history.
