HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — University of Texas Bianca Turati recorded a 6-3, 7-5 victory against Alice Garcia (Brazil) in the Round of 32 at the ITF (International Tennis Federation) pro circuit event at Van Der Meet Shipyard Racquet Club. In the opening set during Tuesday's match, Garcia jumped out to a 3-0 advantage before Turati stormed back to win the next six consecutive games. Garcia again grabbed a 3-0 lead in the second set, but Turati responded to win three straight games to tie the set at 3-3. After the players split the next four games to move to 5-5, Turati held serve before breaking Garcia to finish the match.
Turati is No. 1 in the Oracle/ITA preseason women's collegiate national singles rankings. The 2018 Big 12 Conference Player of the Year posted a 28-4 overall singles mark and ended her sophomore season at No. 3 in the final Oracle/ITA Division I singles rankings.
