No. 6 Volleyball sweeps Texas State to open home season

AUSTIN, Texas - No. 6 Texas swept Texas State, 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-19) to open their home season on Thursday night at Gregory Gym.
Junior Micaya White led the Longhorns with 10 kills (.304) and 10 digs, also adding one service ace, while senior Yaasmeen Bedart-Ghani posted nine kills (.500), three service aces, and a block.
Freshman Logan Eggleston also finished with nine kills (.500), five digs, a team-high three blocks, and two aces.
Freshman Brionne Butler recorded sevens kills (.250) and two blocks and sophomore Ashley Shook added 32 assists, one kill, and one ace.
Freshman Sydney Petersen led Texas with eight digs, also adding two aces, while junior Autumn Rounsaville also added four digs and one assist.
The Longhorns face a quick turnaround and will play No. 16 Kentucky at home on Friday Sept. 7 at 8 p.m. CT.
