Bianca Turati wins Round of 32 singles match at ITF Daytona Beach pro event

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — University of Texas junior All-American Bianca Turati recorded a 6-3, 6-4 victory against Elizabeth Halbauer (USA) in the Round of 32 at the ITF (International Tennis Federation) pro circuit event at the Florida Tennis Center. Halbauer is ranked No. 371 in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) world singles rankings.
Turati, No. 576 in the WTA rankings, advances to Thursday's Round of 16 in Daytona Beach. She will play Renata Zarazua (Mexico), the No. 5 seed in the tournament who is No. 258 in the WTA rankings.
In Tuesday's match, Turati claimed the first four games of the opening set to take control of the match. Trailing 5-1, Halbauer won back-to-back games to pull within 5-3, before Turati held serve to close out the set 6-3.
Turati used an early break in the second set to build a 2-0 cushion. Both players held serve over the next seven games to give Turati a 5-4 advantage. Turati then saved three break points before closing out the match.
