The Details
With the teams feeling each other out over the opening few minutes, it was Texas that put the first stat on the board by earning a corner at the 4:34 mark.
The Longhorns had the better of the early possession, but it was Oklahoma State that created the early goal for a tone-setting, 1-0 advantage.
OSU forward Olyvia Dowell started the play from near the right end line as her bending cross rattled off the crossbar, off Curry's hand and straight out into the middle of the box. Waiting to pounce was Grace Yochum as the forward drove home a shot from eight yards out at 10:26.
Texas managed its first shot of the match at 15:14 as sophomore midfielder Kailey Smith fired a shot from the top of the 18 that traveled wide left.
That seemed to ignite the UT offense for a while as senior forward Cyera Hintzen had a shot blocked at 19:04 and a 19-yard effort venture wide right at 21:29.
OSU came close to a second in the 25th-minute as midfielder Hannah Webb hit a shot from 18 yards out that was tipped by Curry up and off the crossbar.
Down the stretch of the opening half, Texas created two more chances, but efforts from redshirt junior forward Cydney Billups and Hintzen were wide and blocked, respectively.
The Longhorns seemed inspired coming out of the halftime locker room, creating some of their best opportunities of the contest.
Hintzen found some space at the top of the 18 and blasted a shot at the 46:06 mark that was stopped by OSU keeper Dani Greenlee.
Perhaps the best chance occurred at 47:28 as a perfect cross from the right side picked out Sydney Nobles racing in at the back post. Unfortunately, the freshman forward's running six-yard header popped up and over the woodwork for a goal kick.
Back-to-back corners in the 53rd and 54th-minutes settled things down some for OSU as the Texas defense managed to clear both set pieces out of danger.
Summoned into the match as a substitute at 61:47, it took just 47 seconds for Gabriella Coleman to have a major impact for the Cowgirls. With the ball in Texas' defensive end, the forward managed to create a turnover, dribbled into the right edge of the 18 and unleashed a blast that somehow snuck past Curry to double Oklahoma State's lead to 2-0.
With Texas searching for a goal to climb back into the match, sophomore defender Emma Regan came close to creating it at 69:40. She raced up from her position in the back and hammered a drive from distance that ventured just over the woodwork.
After junior midfielder Haley Berg forced a Greenlee stop at 71:02, Regan was at it again during the 80th-minute as the Burnaby, British Columbia, product sprinted up again to rattle a 25-yard shot off the crossbar.
With time running short, a foul was called on Texas as Curry raced out to corral a ball and was deemed to have collided with a Cowgirl player inside the 18. UT's net minder was up to the task, however, stopping the penalty kick on a dive near the left post to keep the deficit at 2-0.
Hintzen registered UT's last opportunity with 52 seconds left as her lengthy try traveled right into Greenlee's arms.
