Women's Tennis' Anna Turati advances to semifinals at ITA All-American Championships

UT senior records a pair of singles wins against Top-10 nationally-ranked opponents on Friday.
TULSA, Okla. — University of Texas women's tennis senior Anna Turati recorded a pair of singles victories on Friday against Top-10 nationally-ranked opponents to advance to the semifinals in the main draw of the Saint Francis Health System ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) All-American Championships at the Case Tennis Center at LaFortune Park.
No. 17 Turati, the No. 15 overall seed in the tourney, began play on Friday with an emphatic 6-0, 6-1 victory against the tournament's top seed and No. 2-ranked Estela Perez-Somaribba of Miami, Fla. in the Round of 16. Perez-Somaribba was the 2019 NCAA singles champion. Turati returned to the court later in the afternoon in the quarterfinals and rallied for an impressive 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (10-8) win against North Carolina's No. 7-ranked (tournament's fifth seed) Sara Daavettila.
Turati will face the tournament's third seed and No. 4-ranked Alexa Graham of North Carolina in Saturday's semifinal match at 11 a.m. CT. By reaching the singles quarterfinals at the ITA All-American Championships, Turati earned automatic entry into the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, scheduled for Nov. 6-10 in Newport Beach, Calif.
