No. 22/23 Football falls on final play at Iowa State, 23-21

The Cyclones converted a 36-yard field goal as time expired to best the Longhorns Saturday.
AMES, Iowa – The No. 19 Texas Football team battled back from a 13-point deficit, but was bested on a 36-yard Iowa State field goal as time expired and fell, 23-21, on Saturday at Jack Trice Stadium.
Key Statistics
• Iowa State scored on its opening drive of the game with a 10-play, 59-yard drive that gave the Cyclones an early 7-0 lead.
• Sophomore DB Caden Sterns sacked Iowa State QB Brock Purdy for a two-yard loss to force a fourth down with the Cyclones in UT territory. Purdy overthrew the fourth-down pass, giving Texas the ball back at their own 36-yard line early in the second quarter.
• Sophomore DB D'Shawn Jamison notched his third interception of the year halfway through the second quarter.
•Junior QB Sam Ehlinger completed 4-of-5 passes, including a 14-yard touchdown to sophomore WR Brennan Eagles, to cap Texas' five-play, 75-yard scoring drive that ended with only 0:17 left in the first half.
• Iowa State opened the second half with a 75-yard touchdown pass on its first play from scrimmage, giving the Cyclones a 17-7 advantage.
• Ehlinger found sophomore RB Keaontay Ingram on a 22-yard touchdown pass that cut Texas' deficit to six points (20-14) with 14:50 remaining in the fourth quarter.
• Ehlinger accounted for 95 passing yards and 19 rushing yards on a 15-play, 89-yard drive that ended with a seven-yard go-ahead touchdown pass to freshman WR Malcolm Epps. The drive took 6:43 off the clock, Texas' third-longest scoring drive this season.
• Chris Naggar booted a career-long 67-yard punt that pinned Iowa State at its own 18-yard line with Texas on top, 21-20, and 3:00 remaining in the fourth quarter.
• Iowa State's Connor Assalley converted a 36-yard field goal as time expired to seal the Cyclones' win on Saturday.
