Football takes down Texas Tech, 49-24, on Senior Day

Sam Ehlinger compiled 431 yards of total offense and Roschon Johnson rushed for 105 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Longhorns to victory.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Football racked up 610 yards of total offense and finished the regular season with a 49-24 win over Texas Tech on Saturday at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The Senior Day win improves Texas to 7-5 overall this season and 5-4 in Big 12 play.
Key Statistics
- After Texas was forced to punt on its first two possessions of the game, Texas Tech responded with touchdowns on its first two drives to take an early 14-0 lead.
- The Longhorns had an answer near the end of the first quarter, driving 75 yards in six play. Sam Ehlinger capped off the drive with a 10-yard rushing touchdown to trim the lead to 14-6 after the PAT was blocked.
- On the Red Raiders' next possession, Malcolm Roach recorded a sack to force Texas Tech to punt.
- Texas followed Roach's sack with a game-tying touchdown drive. Daniel Young scored on a three-yard run and the Longhorns converted the two-point play on a pass from Ehlinger to Devin Duvernay.
- Texas Tech retook the lead with a 24-yard touchdown pass midway through the second quarter.
- The response from Texas was immediate, as Duvernay caught a 75-yard touchdown pass from Ehlinger to tie the game back up, 21-21. The catch was Duvernay's 100th grab of the season.
- Roschon Johnson capped off a 74-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown run to give Texas its first lead of the game, 28-21, near the end of the first half.
- The Texas defense got a fourth down stop to start the second half and the Longhorns' offense drove the field to extend the lead to 35-21. Ehlinger hit Jake Smith with a 26-yard touchdown pass.
- Texas Tech trimmed the Texas lead to 35-24 with a 23-yard field goal in the third quarter.
- Johnson rushed his second touchdown of the game to extend the Texas lead to 42-24 late in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Johnson put the punctuation mark on the game with his third
- Johnson finished with 105 rushing yards on 23 carries with three touchdowns.
