Track & Field’s Distance Medley Relays post strong marks Friday

Women’s DMR team posts another school record while the men run one of the nation’s top times.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The University of Texas Track & Field program sent its Distance Medley Relay teams to the JDL DMR Invitational on Friday in Winston-Salem, posting some of the nation's best times in the event. The women ran 11:10.55 to set a new school record before conversion, as the JDL FastTrack is a 200-meter flat track. The men ran 9:35.29 to finish second, and with conversion will be among the top times in the country.
The women ran a time of 11:10.55, a new school record for the second time this season. Alex Cruz ran the opening leg (1200m) in 3:26.86 before handing off to Zola Golden who ran 54.04 in the 400m. Gabby Crank then ran a strong 800m time of 2:05.67 before Destiny Collins ran a 1600m split of 4:43.97 to give the Longhorns a third-place finish.
The men ran a time of 9:35.29 to finish second. Their time will be amongst one of the nation's best qualifying marks after conversion. Alex Rogers led off with a time of 2:52.94 in the 1200m before Terry Brown, Jr. ran 47.86 in the 400m. Freshman Sean Prendeville ran 1:53.83 in the 800m before Sam Worley's anchor leg of 4:00.86 in the 1600m.
The Longhorns will compete at the Aggie Twilight in College Station on Saturday evening. It is the final regular season meet before heading to Lubbock next Friday and Saturday for the Big 12 Indoor Championships.
