Soccer travels to The Woodlands to battle LSU in spring action

AUSTIN, Texas – It's back to spring action for Texas soccer on Sat., March 30, as the Longhorns will venture to The Woodlands, Texas, to face reigning Southeastern Conference Tournament champ LSU at Bear Branch Sports Field No. 7 (5205 Research Forest Drive) at 2 p.m. CT.
Admission to the match is expected to be free to all who wish to attend.
The Burnt Orange & White are 1-1 so far against a challenging spring slate after a 2-1 victory at UTRGV and a tight, 1-0 loss on the road at National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) pro team, the Houston Dash. Sophomore midfielder Haley Berg owns both goals scored thus far for the Longhorns during the spring campaign.
Texas is returning 24 letter winners from last fall's 13-5-3 Texas squad that reached the Big 12 Championship semifinals and the NCAA Tournament Field of 64. Those returnees combined to account for 24-of-39 goals (62%), 24-of-42 assists (57%) and 72-of-120 total points (60%) during the 2018 season as well as all 13 goalkeeping wins and seven shutouts between the pipes (goalkeeper Nicole Curry).
Included among the numerous standouts back are 2018 United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-American forward Cyera Hintzen (10 goals, nine assists) as well as United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region selections Haley Berg (six goals, three assists) and Julia Grosso (Big 12 Co-Freshman of the Year - two goals).
