Trio from Women’s Tennis fall in NCAA singles second round

Juniors Anna Turati, Bianca Turati and Petra Granic each drop Round of 32 matches on Tuesday.
ORLANDO, Fla. — University of Texas women's tennis juniors Anna Turati, Bianca Turati and Petra Granic each fell on Tuesday in the second round of the NCAA Singles Championships at the USTA National Campus.
No. 54 Granic opened the day with a 6-3, 6-4 loss to the No. 6 seed Fernanda Contreras of Vanderbilt. Granic concludes the 2018-19 season with a 23-6 overall record in singles action.
No. 38 Anna Turati dropped a hard-fought 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 decision to No. 32 Elysia Bolton of UCLA. Tied at one set apiece and 5-5 in the decisive third set, Bolton broke Turati on a deuce point and then held serve to close out the victory. Turati, who had her 19-match win streak in singles play snapped, finished the 2018-19 season with a 26-4 overall mark in singles.
No. 28 Bianca Turati concluded the evening session with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 loss to the No. 2 seed Katarina Jokic of Georgia. Turati ended the year with a 12-8 mark in singles action.
