Volleyball sweeps Kansas in home opener

Logan Eggleston led the Longhorns with 16 kills in the first match at Frank Erwin Center.
AUSTIN, Texas – In the home opener for Texas Volleyball, the Longhorns swept Kansas, 25-22, 25-19, 25-22, at the Frank Erwin Center on Thursday night.
Logan Eggleston led all players with 16 kills, adding one ace, seven digs and two blocks. Skylar Fields finished with 11 kills and one block, while Asjia O'Neal had eight kills and three blocks.
Brionne Butler and Molly Phillips each had six kills, while Butler had five blocks and Phillips had four. Jhenna Gabriel dished out 43 assists and had 10 digs, one block and one kill.
The Longhorns and Jayhawks played a close first set, before Texas put it away to go up 1-0. In the second set, Texas jumped out to a commanding 21-13 lead and went up 2-0. The third set was the closest of the match, with the Longhorns and Jayhawks training leads throughout.
Texas and Kansas will face off again on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Erwin Center.
