Freshman Micah Braswell won a share of his second championship this fall on the strength of a 3-0 singles and a 2-1 doubles record.
Fort Worth – Texas Men's Tennis freshman Micah Braswell earned the overall co-championship of the TCU Invitational on Sunday in Fort Worth. Braswell finished with a 3-0 singles record and 2-1 doubles mark over the three days for 14 total points and a share of his second tournament title this fall.
Braswell defeated Charlie Broom of Baylor, 6-3, 6-2, in singles, and paired with sophomore Cleeve Harper for an 8-6 decision over Justin Schlageter and Jake Van Emburgh of Oklahoma on Sunday. The wins secured his share of the championship with Noah Schachter of Texas A&M after Braswell had previously won the Lakes Tennis Invite in Frisco that took place Sept. 18-20.
For the third-straight day, the Longhorns won three out of four matches in doubles, including sweeping their three matches against Oklahoma. In addition to the win by Braswell and Harper, senior Payton Holden and junior Chih Chi Huang captured an 8-7 (5) tiebreaker win, and sophomores Eshan Talluri and Siem Woldeab took an 8-4 victory.
Texas will return to the court next weekend at the ITA Texas Regional Championships, which will be played Oct. 23-25 in Waco.
