No. 1 Women's Golf in third entering final day of Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. – Freshman Sophie Guo and junior Kaitlyn Papp each fired second-round 69s on Monday and the No. 1 Texas women's golf team currently is in third place entering the final day of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at Palos Verdes Golf Club.
The Longhorns have turned in a six-over-par two-round total of 574 [290-284]. Texas is 10 strokes off the team lead entering the final day of the event.
No. 11 Duke leads the field with a four-under-par 564 [291-273], while No. 19 UCLA is in second with a four-over-par 572 [293-279].
The Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge field is impressive, featuring eight top-10 teams, including each of the top-seven squads, and 13 top-25 teams according to the latest WGCA Coaches poll.
For the week, Texas has recorded the best scoring average on par-five holes [4.63, -11] of any team in the field. As a team, the Longhorns have totaled 31 birdies and 109 pars.
LINEUP AT A GLANCE
- Guo is in eighth place individually with a one-under-par two-round total of 141 [72-69]. Her second-round 69 on Monday marked her seventh round in the 60s this season out of 14 total rounds. She carded four birdies in the second round.
- Papp is tied for ninth with an even-par 142 [73-69]. Her 69 on Monday marked her 41st collegiate round at par or better. It was also her fifth round in the 60s this season. She finished with six birdies on Monday. For the week, Papp leads Texas with eight birdies.
- Junior Agathe Laisne is tied for 21st with a three-over-par 145 [74-71]. Laisne has the best scoring average on par-five holes [4.17, -5] of all golfers in the field.
- Senior Emilee Hoffman is tied for 28th with a four-over-par 146 [71-75], while sophomore Sara Kouskova is tied for 56th with a nine-over-par 151 [75-76].

The final round of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge is set to take place on Tuesday. Tee times for the Longhorns begin at 10:30 a.m. CT at Palos Verdes Golf Club.
