Texas men’s golf assistant Jean-Paul Hebert earns 2020 Jan Strickland Outstanding Assistant Coach Award presented by TaylorMade Golf Company as selected by the GCAA.
NORMAN, Okla. — Texas Men's Golf assistant coach Jean-Paul Hebert has been named the 2020 Jan Strickland Outstanding Assistant Coach Award winner presented by TaylorMade Golf Company as selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
The Strickland Award is presented to the NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA or NJCAA assistant coach that, among other things, has excelled in working with their student-athletes both on the course and in the classroom.
Hebert is in his sixth season as the assistant men's golf coach after having served as the team's volunteer assistant for three seasons. Since joining the Longhorns full-time, Hebert helped coach Texas to 19 team victories, three Big 12 titles, as well as top-five finishes at four of the last five NCAA Championships, including runner-up finishes in 2016 and 2019.
"To be named the recipient of the 2020 Jan Strickland Award, among the many qualified coaches out there, is very satisfying and very humbling," said Hebert. "This award has grown in prestige every year, so to be singled out is an honor that will stick for years to come.
"My job is made easier through the character of the people around me. We are blessed by our players and their families and enriched by the countless others in and around our great university," continued Hebert. "Big thanks to TaylorMade Golf and to our Association for their support of this award, and big thanks to Coach Fields for the opportunity, the trust, and for allowing me to be myself on a daily basis. "
TaylorMade Golf Company has sponsored the Strickland Award since its inception in 2003.
