Baseball’s Ellis signs free agent contract with White Sox

Senior outfielder Duke Ellis signs professional contract after three-seasons at Texas.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Baseball senior outfielder Duke Ellis has signed a free agent contract with the Chicago White Sox following the 2020 Major League Baseball Draft.
This season, Ellis finished second on the team with a .302 batting average in 17 games played and 15 starts in center field. Ellis scored 11 runs and hit two doubles and one triple. He went a perfect 7-for-7 on stolen bases to finish his career with a streak of 32-straight successful stolen bases. Ellis was also named second team Academic All-Big 12.
Ellis finished his career with a .281 batting average, 13 doubles, five triples and two homers. He started 126 games and scored 92 runs. Including his 32-consecutive stolen bases, he finished his career with 40 total stolen bases.
He joins junior right-handed pitcher Bryce Elder heading to professional baseball. Elder was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the fifth round of the 2020 MLB Draft.
