Baseball’s Swindell and Street named to ESPN’s All-Time College Baseball Team

Two Longhorn Legends recognized among college baseball’s best.
AUSTIN, Texas – A pair of Texas Baseball Legends, Greg Swindell and Huston Street, have been named to ESPN's Greatest All-Time College Baseball Team. The all-time team was selected from a fan vote on ESPN.com over the last two weeks and announced on a reveal show on ESPNU.
Swindell, who made the all-time team as a left-handed pitcher, compiled a 1.92 career ERA and a 43-8 record from 1984-86. He holds the program records with 501 career strikeouts and 14 shutouts. He tossed 32 complete games out of his 50 total starts and compiled 440 innings pitched for the Longhorns.
Helping lead Texas to to SWC titles in 1984 and 1985 and a co-championship in 1986, Swindell was named a three-time All-SWC player and three-time first team All-American. He was the 1984 Baseball America Freshman of the Year, 1986 SWC Player of the Year and 1986 Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Year. Swindell has been inducted into the Texas Athletics Hall of Honor, College Baseball Hall of Fame and Texas Sports Hall of Fame.
Street, named as a relief pitcher on the all-time team, holds the Longhorn and College World Series records for career saves. He finished his Longhorn career with 41 saves and a 1.31 ERA, the second best ERA in program history. He is the all-time College World Series leader in saves with five, and set the single-series record of four in 2002.
A three-time All-American at Texas and the MVP of the 2002 College World Series, Street made 105 appearances and pitched 178.1 innings. He struck out 177 batters and posted an 18-3 record and his .172 opponents' batting average is the third-best in Longhorn history. Street is a member of the Texas Athletics Hall of Honor and Omaha College Baseball Hall of Fame.
Swindell (21) and Street (25) are among seven Texas Baseball Legends to have their jersey number retired, alongside Scott Bryant (25), Roger Clemens (21), Burt Hooton (20), Brooks Kieschnick (23) and Keith Moreland (3).
In all, Texas had 10 players nominated for spots on the all-time team: RHP Burt Hooten, RHP Kirk Dressendorfer, RHP Roger Clemens, 2B Bill Bates, 2B Kody Clemens, 3B Keith Moreland, RF Kyle Russell, 2-WAY Brooks Kieschnick, LHP Greg Swindell, RP Huston Street.
