THE ALL-TIME SERIES
• Texas holds a 63-26-1 advantage over TCU in the all-time series between the schools. That includes a 34-14-1 record when the teams meet in Austin.
• The Longhorns bested TCU, 31-16, in 2018, the last time the two programs faced off at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
• Texas holds the longest winning streak by either side (24 games) and the largest margin of victory (72 points) in series history.
CAMPBELL-WILLIAMS FIELD DEDICATION
• At the request of the Jamail family, Joe Jamail Field has been renamed in honor of Longhorn Legends and Heisman Trophy winners Earl Campbell (1974-77) and Ricky Williams (1995-98).
• Campbell, the famed "Tyler Rose," holds a special place in The University of Texas and state of Texas' football history. As a senior at UT in 1977, Campbell became the first Longhorn to win the Heisman Trophy after he rushed for 1,744 yards – a Southwest Conference record that stood for 16 years – and 19 touchdowns. He led the nation in rushing and scoring, and posted a pair of 200-yard games on the road against Texas A&M (222 yards) and SMU (213 yards). Campbell also set a Texas record for 100-yard rushing games that season (10).
• Williams, a San Diego native, completed his UT career with 21 NCAA and 46 school records under his name en route to becoming Texas' second Heisman Trophy winner in 1998. He was a three-time first-team all-conference pick, a two-time Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and only the second player to twice win the Doak Walker Award (nation's top running back). Williams' career culminated in his final home game, on the field now named in his honor, when he surpassed Tony Dorsett's 22-year-old NCAA rushing record.
• The field at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium was originally named after Joe Jamail in 1997 to honor the lifelong Longhorn's immense contributions to The University of Texas' athletic department.
NOTABLE STREAKS AND TRENDS
• Texas is 9-4 in non-conference games, including bowl games, under head coach Tom Herman. That includes a 5-2 mark at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
• The Longhorns have held six of their last seven opponents under 25 points. That is UT's best stretch since a six-game run that covered the end of the 2010 season and the beginning of the 2011 campaign.
• Texas is 11-2 at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium since the start of the 2018 season and 14-5 overall during Herman's tenure as head coach.
• The Longhorns are 11-6 in one-possession games (decided by eight points or less) since the start of 2018.
• UT has won 22 of the 23 games it has outgained its opponent under Tom Herman.
• The Longhorns are 22-2 under Herman when outrushing their opponents, and have won 16 of the last 18 instances.
• Texas' defense has forced at least one turnover in 34 of 42 games under Herman, including in 17 of its last 20 contests.
• UT is 25-3 when leading at halftime since the start of the 2017 season.
• The Longhorns have won 15 of 16 games when holding their opponents under 20 points during Herman's tenure.
• Tom Herman's Texas teams are 10-0 when forcing at least three turnovers and are 20-6 when turning the ball over fewer than three times.
HEAD COACH TOM HERMAN
• Tom Herman is in his sixth season overall as a head coach with a career record of 49-19 (.721). He is in his fourth season at Texas with a mark of 27-15 (.643).
• Including the 2020 season, Herman has spent 17 of his 23 seasons as a coach in the state of Texas on the collegiate level.
• Herman graduated from Cal Lutheran and received his master's degree in education from The University of Texas.
• He owns a career mark of 14-9 against top-25 opponents, 5-6 against top-10 foes and 3-3 versus teams ranked in the top five.
TEXAS IN THE RANKINGS
• Texas is currently slotted at No. 9 in the Associated Press Top 25 and at No. 9 in the Amway Coaches Poll, holding its spot in the top 10 for a third-straight week.
• The Longhorns' No. 8 slot in the Coaches Poll on Sept. 14 marked the program's highest ranking in one of the two major polls since Week 9 of the 2018 season when UT was ranked No. 6 in the AP Top 25 and No. 7 in the Coaches Poll.
• Texas has held a spot in at least one of the national rankings in 29 of the last 36 polls, dating back to the start of the 2018 season. Twenty-three of those weeks have seen UT ranked in the top 15 of at least one of them, including nine with at least one top-10 ranking.
HOME, SWEET HOME
• The Longhorns are 14-5 at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium in four years under Tom Herman. That includes an 9-3 record against the Big 12, and a 3-2 mark against ranked opponents.
• Texas is 11-2 at home over the past three seasons, including a 7-1 record versus the Big 12. UT was 10-8 in home games in the three years prior to Herman's arrival, including a 6-6 record against Big 12 opponents.
• In five games at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium last season, the Longhorns averaged 39.2 points per game and racked up 2,597 yards of total offense (519.4 pg). UT was 4-1 on its home turf in 2019, falling only seven points in a shootout against the eventual national champions, LSU.
• Texas' 10 wins in Austin across the 2018-19 seasons mark the first time the Longhorns have won at least 10 home games in a two-year stretch since 2008-09.
• The Longhorns had lost three-straight home games and five of their last seven at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium before Herman arrived for the 2017 season. That stretch included a 2-5 record in Big 12 contests.
