No. 1 Volleyball beats Iowa State in four

AMES, Iowa – No. 1 Texas Volleyball rallied from dropping the first set to beat Iowa State, 3-1, 24-26, 25-16, 25-14, 25-12, on Thursday night at Hilton Coliseum.
The Longhorn block was dominant in the match, finishing with a season-high 17 total blocks and holding Iowa State to a .000 hitting percentage.
The Texas attack had a balanced night with no player notching double-digit kills. Skylar Fields and Molly Phillips each finished with nine kills, while Phillips also added six blocks. Asjia O'Neal and Logan Eggleston each had eight kills, while O'Neal led the team with nine total blocks. Brionne Butler added six kills and eight blocks.
Jhenna Gabriel dished out 32 assists and added five digs, one ace and one block.
Nalani Iosia led the team with 11 digs, while Melanie Parra finished with 10 digs and five aces.
Texas started the match slowly and trailed throughout the first set, starting out down 9-3. The Longhorns managed to take their first lead of the set late, 21-20, but the Cyclones battled back to win the set 26-24.
In the first set, Texas had a total of six attack errors but only had a combined five over the final three sets.
The Longhorns came out hot in the second set and never cooled off. Texas jumped out to a 7-1 lead and never allowed Iowa State to get any closer than two points before pulling away for a 25-16 win. Texas led comfortably throughout the third and fourth sets to finish off the win.
Texas and Iowa State will face off again on Friday at 7 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum.
