No. 1 Volleyball sweeps Iowa State

The Longhorns improved to 17-0 as head coach Jerritt Elliott became the program’s winningest coach.
AMES, Iowa – No. 1 Texas Volleyball remained unbeaten with a 3-0 sweep of Iowa State, 25-18, 25-22, 25-22, on Friday at Hilton Coliseum.
The win marked head coach Jerritt Elliott's 523rd win at Texas, making him the winningest coach in Texas Longhorns Volleyball history. He surpassed Mick Haley, who won 522 matches at Texas from 1980-96.
Skylar Fields led the Longhorns with 11 kills, finishing with a .364 hitting percentage and a season-high seven digs. Logan Eggleston had 10 kills, nine digs, three blocks, one ace and one assist.
Asjia O'Neal finished with nine blocks for the second-straight match, giving her 18 for the weekend.
Brionne Butler and Molly Phillips each had eight kills in the match, while Phillips had five blocks as well.
Jhenna Gabrield finished with 29 assists, seven digs, two blocks and one service ace. Nalani Iosia had nine digs, two assists and one service ace.
Iowa State started the match quickly for the second-straight night, jumping out to a big lead before the Longhorns knotted the set at 16. Texas managed to pull away from there, outscoring the Cyclones 9-2 to close out the first set. Parra got hot from the service line, leading the Longhorns on a 7-0 run to close the set.
The Longhorns jumped out to a big lead in the second set and held on for a 25-22 win to go up 2-0. The third set was similar, with Texas holding off the Cyclones to close out the sweep.
Texas heads into a bye week before traveling to Waco to take on Baylor, Nov. 5-6.
