No. 7 Women’s Golf finishes seventh at The Landfall Tradition

Senior Sara Kouskova ties for 12th in the individual standings at 1-under-par 215.
WILMINGTON, N.C. — The No. 7 Texas Women's Golf team registered a 1-over-par 289 on Sunday to finish in seventh place in The Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall. Senior Sara Kouskova fired a 2-under-par 70 in the final round to move up into a tie for 12th place in the individual standings at 1-under-par 215 (72-73-70).
The Longhorns moved up three spots in the team standings during the final round of the tourney. UT's score of 1-over-par 289 on Sunday tied for the third-best team round of the day.
The 18-team field at The Landfall Tradition included six teams that are ranked in the updated Division I Muzuno WGCA Coaches Poll (Oct. 15), including No. 4 Virginia, No. 7 Texas, No. 8 South Carolina, No. 9 Michigan, No. 11 Wake Forest and No. 16 Florida State.
No. 8 South Carolina tallied an 8-under-par 280 on Sunday to earn the team victory with a 54-hole score of 15-under-par 849 (291-278-280). No. 9 Michigan placed second at 3-under-par 861 (289-279-293), and Michigan State took third at 1-over-par 865 (293-283-289). The Longhorns posted a three-round total of 14-over-par 878 (291-298-289).
South Carolina's Justine Fournand claimed individual medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 8-under-par 208 (67-73-68). Virginia Tech's Emily Mahar placed second at 5-under-par 211 (71-72-68), while Crystal Wang of Ilinois took third at 4-under-par 212 (74-68-70).
This marked the fourth and final tournament of the fall season for Texas. The Longhorns return to the course on Feb. 14-15 at the Lamkin Invitational in San Diego, Calif.
The Lineup
- Senior Sara Kouskova fired a 2-under-par 70 on Sunday to finish in a tie for 12th place in the individual standings at 1-under-par 215 (72-73-70). Starting on the ninth hole, she had bogeys on two of her first three holes but rebounded to post birdies on holes No. 14 (par-4) and No. 18 (par-5) and an eagle at No. 6 (par-5).
- Freshman Bohyun Park carded a 1-under-par 71 in the final round to tie for 23rd at 2-over-par 218 (71-76-71). She registered a pair of birdies on Sunday (No. 18, par-5; No. 2, par-3).
- Sophomore Bentley Cotton posted a 1-over-par 73 on Sunday to tie for 46th place at 8-over-par 224 (77-74-73). Cotton recorded a pair of birdies in the final round (No. 16, par-3; No. 18, par-5).
- Graduate Brigitte Thibault tallied a 3-over-par 75 in the final round to tie for 58th at 10-over-par 226 (74-77-75), and junior Sophie Guo carded a 5-over-par 77 on Sunday to also tie for 58th place at 10-over-par 226 (74-75-77).
