DALLAS, Texas – The Texas Longhorns dropped their first Big 12 game of the season to Oklahoma, 55-48, in an offensive thriller in the 117th Red River Rivalry showdown at the Cotton Bowl.
KEY STATISTICS
- Longhorns went 75-yards off a Casey Thompson pass to Xavier Worthy on the first play of the game to take the early 7-0 lead, using just 14 seconds of the game clock.
- DeMarvion Overshown set up the Longhorn offense with a blocked punt recovered on Oklahoma's two-yard line. Bijan Robinson rushed two yards for his eighth rushing TD of the season.
- Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler rushed for two-yards to cut Texas' lead to 14-7 with just over nine minutes left in the first quarter.
- B.J. Thompson's interception on the Texas 49-yard line was capped off by three plays, including a 10-yard receiving TD by Joshua Moore to extend the lead to 21-7.
- Thompson connected with Moore for the second-straight TD with a 48-yard bomb down field to give Texas the 28-7 lead with a minute left in the first.
- Oklahoma quarterback Caleb Williams rushed for 66 yards to cut the Texas lead in half, 28-14.
- Texas held Oklahoma to a 40-yard FG from Gabe Brkic to make it 28-17 UT.
- Ben Davis forced the fumble recovered by Overshown to give Texas the football on its own 45-yard line. Bijan Robinson's 50-yard rush set up a TD pass from Thompson to Jared Wiley to make it 35-17 Texas.
- The two teams exchanged FGs to end the half with Brkic adding a 35-yard make to his day, while Cameron Dicker's 38-yard make ended the half with Texas leading 38-20 heading into the locker room.
- Brkic added another made FG with a 29-yard attempt, scoring nine of Oklahoma's 23 points.
- Dicker added his second made FG of the day, this time from 41 yards to make it 41-23 Texas.
- Caleb Williams connected with Marvin Mims off a 14-yard pass to the right corner of the endzone to score the first touchdown of the second half. Texas led 41-30 with 1:02 left in the third.
- Williams found Marvin Mims on a 52-yard pass and converted the two-point conversion to tie the game at 41.
- An Xavier Worthy fumble off the kick return at the Texas 18-yard line resulted in a Kennedy Brooks 18-yard rushing touchdown to give Oklahoma its first lead of the game at 48-41.
- Thompson found Riley off a 31-yard pass to tie the game at 48 with 1:23 left in the game.
- Oklahoma capped the game with a 33-yard rush from Kennedy Brooks to make it 55-48.

The Longhorns return home to host Oklahoma State on Oct. 16th. The game time and TV broadcast has not been confirmed yet.
