The Vancouver, British Columbia, native earned her second & Texas’ 12th all-time All-American selection
AUSTIN, Texas – Following another outstanding campaign in the Burnt Orange & White, Texas soccer senior midfielder Julia Grosso has been selected as a 2021 United Soccer Coaches Third-Team All-American, according to a Thursday evening release from the organization.
With her inclusion, Grosso picked up her second career (third team in 2019) and Texas soccer's 12th all-time All-America accolade. The Longhorns can boast having a student-athlete included as part of the prestigious United Soccer Coaches All-American squads for the fourth time in the last five years (Cyera Hintzen in 2017 & 2018, Grosso in 2019 & 2021)
A total of 47 NCAA Division I players received All-American recognition this season. The group will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony & Reception on Sat., Jan. 22, 2022, at the Kansas City Convention Center in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches National Convention.
Fresh off an historic gold medal-winning performance with Team Canada at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Grosso rode that momentum throughout her senior campaign with the Longhorns by totaling six goals and four assists for 16 points over 18 matches. The Vancouver, British Columbia, product tallied points in seven contests, scored goals in five matches and registered match-winners to down New Mexico State (Sept. 2), UTRGV (Sept. 12) and Texas Tech (Oct. 3). Her finest efforts arguably came via a brace in the win over New Mexico State, a two-assist effort during the triumph over Samford (Sept. 16) and by scoring the match-winner just 7:51 into a 1-0 victory over rival Texas Tech (Oct. 3).
Texas joined TCU (two nods), West Virginia and Texas Tech as Big 12 Conference schools to earn All-American recognition (five total selections) this season.
