Notables:
RIVALRY RENEWED: As the Texas Longhorns continue to work their way through a rugged 2021-22 nonconference schedule, they're set for yet another early season test as they travel to College Station for an in-state rivalry showdown with undefeated and No.17/15-ranked Texas A&M. Texas holds a commanding 62-24 lead in the all-time series with the Aggies. UT fell to A&M, 66-61, in their last meeting in Austin last season.
ONE LAST BATTLE: Sunday's tilt not only promises to be an exciting matchup on the court, but also a special moment for Texas Head Coach Vic Schaefer as he'll likely coach against friend and former coaching partner in Aggies Hall of Famer Gary Blair for the final time. Coach Blair announced his retirement following the 2021-22 season a few weeks ago. Schaefer served on Blair's staff as the associate head coach from 2003 to 2011 and at Akransas from 2000 to 2003. Schaefer is 8-11 when facing off against his longtime mentor.
EXCELLENT EBO: Senior center Lauren Ebo has provided a solid stretch of production in the post for the Longhorns over the last four games in the starting lineup. The D.C. native as averaged 11.3 points and 8.3 rebounds over the last four contests and 66.6 percent (18-of-27) from the floor. She led the team with 14 points and seven rebounds in Wednesday's win over Jackson State.
SCOUTING THE AGGIES: Texas A&M is off to a red-hot 8-0 to begin the 2021-22 campaign. They defeated Little Rock 65-50 at home in their last game on Wednesday. The Aggies enter Sunday's tilt leading the nation in three-point field goal percentage shooting it a 45.5 percent clip. Grad transfer Kayla Wells leads the A&M offensively averaging 16.8 points per game. Jordan Nixon is second on the squad averaging 15.8 points. Well and Nixon are shooting 52.9 and 47.9 percent from three-point range respectively. The Aggies are the reigning Southeastern Conference Regular Season Champions and we're picked to finish third in the 2021-22 SEC Coaches Poll.
