Texas opened the tournament dropping a 4-0 decision to No. 4 Baylor on Friday and will play in the consolation bracket against No. 1 USC, which was upset by host Illinois, 4-1. After USC, the Longhorns will face either No. 3 TCU or No. 10 Tennessee on Sunday at either 12 p.m. CT with a win against USC or 9 a.m. CT with a loss.

-USC Series: USC leads, 23-7
Texas and USC last met in 2019, a year in which they did so twice. In the first meeting, the Longhorns took a 4-0 sweep on Feb. 16 in the quarterfinals of the ITA National Indoor Championship in Chicago, while the Trojans then earned a 4-2 win in Austin on March 24. The Texas win had snapped a five-match winning streak for USC with the previous win for the Longhorns before that coming in the 2010 ITA National Indoor Championship. Texas had been scheduled to visit USC in Los Angeles on March 17 last year prior to the match being canceled due to the pandemic.
