No. 2 Women’s Tennis tops No. 31 Oklahoma State, 6-1

The Longhorns improve to 13-1 in dual-match play with their seventh win against a ranked opponent this year.
AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 2 University of Texas women's tennis team registered a 6-1 win against No. 31 Oklahoma State (6-6, 0-1 Big 12) on Friday afternoon at the Texas Tennis Center. The Longhorns improved to 13-1 in dual-match play, including a 3-0 start to Big 12 Conference play, and earned their seventh victory of the season against a ranked opponent.
Texas grabbed a 1-0 advantage by winning the doubles point for the 13th time in its first 14 dual matches. The freshman duo of Kylie Collins and Lulu Sun jumped out to a 4-1 lead and cruised to a 6-3 victory on court 1 against OSU's No. 34-ranked pair of Bunyawi Thamchaiwat and Ayumi Miyamoto. Collins and Sun won their seventh-consecutive match and improved to 9-1 in dual-match doubles play, including a 4-0 mark against ranked opponents.
The freshman tandem of Charlotte Chavatipon and Peyton Stearns clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory on court 3 over Dariya Detkovskaya and Daniella Medvedeva. Tied at 3-3, Chavatipon and Stearns won the final three games to win their sixth-straight match and move to 8-1 in dual-match doubles action.
In singles action, Collins won 10 of her first 12 games en route to a 6-1, 7-5 victory on court 5 against Lenka Stara. Collins improved to 8-2 overall in singles play, including a 3-0 mark in Big 12 play. No. 24 Thamchaiwat responded with a 6-4, 6-2 win on court 1 against No. 66 Stearns to pull Oklahoma State to within 2-1.
No. 94 Sun swung the momentum back to Texas after her 7-5, 6-2 victory on court 3 over No. 77 Miyamoto increased UT's margin to 3-1. Tied at 5-5 in the opening set, Sun won eight of the next 10 games to move to 9-2 in dual-match singles play this spring, including a 7-1 mark on court 3. The remaining three singles matches all went to a third set.
Senior Fernanda Labraña rallied for a 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 win on court 6 against Medvedeva to clinch the dual-match victory for the Longhorns. Tied at 4-4 in the third set, Labraña broke Medvedeva and then held serve to improve to 13-2 overall in singles, including a 6-1 mark in dual-match play.
No. 125 Chavatipon fought back for a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory on court 4 over Detkovskaya to move to 16-1 overall in singles, including a 13-1 record in dual-match play. Senior No. 5 Anna Turati closed out the action with a 6-0, 4-6, 6-0 win on court 2 against No. 105 Alana Wolfberg. Turati improved to 10-2 in dual-match singles action, including a 3-0 mark in Big 12 play.
UT hosts No. 32 Oklahoma in a Big 12 Conference match on Sunday, March 21. First serve is set for 12 p.m. Central at the Texas Tennis Center, and the contest will be televised live by Longhorn Network.
