No. 10 Baseball takes series with 4-3 win at Baylor

WACO, Texas – No. 10 Texas Baseball took down Baylor, 4-3, to clinch the first Big 12 Conference series of the season on Saturday at Baylor Ballpark.
Aaron Nixon recorded his second-straight save, pitching the ninth inning and allowing one run on two hits. He struck out Baylor's Jared McKenzie to end the game and secure the series win.
The Longhorns (14-5, 2-0) and Bears went back and for through the early innings before Texas grabbed the lead for good in the sixth on DJ Petrinsky's two-run single.
Tristan Stevens pitched six solid innings, allowing just two runs on seven hits to pick up his second win of the season. He struck out six batters, including his final out of the day in the sixth.
The Longhorns jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after Eric Kennedy singled and Mike Antico immediately drove him in with an RBI double to right-center field. Kennedy finished 2-for-5 with a double and one run scored.
Baylor got the run right back on two hits and an error in the bottom of the first but Stevens was able to limit the damage with a trio of strikeouts.
Cam Williams launched Texas back into the lead with a solo homer in the top of the fourth, his team-leading fourth of the season. He finished the game 2-for-4 for his second-straight multiple-hit game.
The Bears answered quickly to tie the game back up, 2-2, with a solo shot of their own in the bottom of the fourth.
Texas retook the lead, 4-2, in the sixth on a two-run single by Petrinsky to drive in Silas Ardoin and Trey Faltine. The Longhorns had a big chance to add to that lead but left the bases loaded to end the sixth.
Cole Quintanilla came out of the bullpen in the seventh and pitched two scoreless innings of relief. He struck out two batters and allowed only one base runner.
Nixon came on for the ninth and despite allowing a solo homer and a double, he closed out the win for Texas.
The Longhorns will go for the series sweep of Baylor on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Baylor Ballpark.
