The Longhorns host the 93rd running of the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin this weekend.
AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Track and Field program takes center stage in the world of collegiate track this week, as the Longhorns host the 93rd running of the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, one of the nation's premier annual meets.
This year's edition of the Texas Relays will feature an abbreviated schedule, due to a combination of challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Texas Relays will take place over three days, running from Thursday, March 25, through Saturday, March 27. It will feature events in the University, College and Invitational divisions, while Longhorn Network will once again broadcast extensive live coverage of this year's meet.
The 2021 Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays get underway with the collegiate decathlon and heptathlon on Thursday, March 25. Thursday's action will highlight field events, sprints and the Distance Carnival to close out the night. The distance portion of Day One will consist of the 1,500 meters, 5,000 meters, 10,000 meters, 3,000-meter steeplechase and the Jerry Thompson Mile.
Friday's schedule is led off by the second day of multis competition in the decathlon and heptathlon at Myers Stadium, followed by a slew of field events and then a sprints circuit in the afternoon and early evening. The sprints session will include the 100-meter dash, hurdles competition, 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relays in the University/College division.
Saturday's schedule begins with field competition in the discus at 10 a.m., and continues all throughout Myers Stadium during the day. The 2021 Texas Relays are scheduled to conclude with the Sanya Richards-Ross and Cleburne Price Jr. 4x400-meter relays in the evening.
