The Longhorns lead by eight shots after 36 holes in Tucson, Arizona.
TUCSON, Ariz. – The Texas Women's Golf team fired a 14-under 562 over two rounds of play at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational on Monday. The Longhorns' effort as the team gives them a eight-shot lead heading into Tuesday's final round at the Sewailo Golf Club.
Texas jumped out to its lead thanks to a dominant first 18 holes, with the Longhorns firing a 13-under 275 in that round. UT's 13-under par score makes it the fourth-best round as a team in program history. Kaitlyn Papp was the low Longhorn with a 6-under 66 in the first round, the second-best round of her collegiate career.
Papp, an Austin native, found herself one-over par through four holes, but made seven birdies and no bogies over her final 14 holes to post her score. She currently sits in third on the leaderboard at 5-under, one shot back of teammate Sara Kouskova for second place and two shots behind the leader, Allisen Corpuz of USC.
Kouskova was consistent across her two rounds, firing a 4-under 68 followed by a 2-under 70 in her second trip around the course. Agathe Laisne and Ashley Park are both also in the top 10 of the individual leaderboard, with Laisne in a tie for sixth at 1-under and Park tied for 10th at even-par.
