Track and Field continues top-10 residence in USTFCCCA Rankings

The women are again ranked No. 3 while the men sit at No. 7 in this week’s updated top-25.
AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Track and Field program continued to hold a pair of top-10 rankings this week in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's (USTFCCCA) National Rating Index. The Texas women are again ranked No. 3 while the men sit at No. 7 following a weekend away from competition.
The third-ranked women boast nine NCAA top-10 marks this season, led by Tara Davis' collegiate-leading long jump. Kynnedy Flannel holds a pair of top-10 marks, ranking second in the 200-meter dash and ninth at 100 meters. Stacey Ann Williams holds the second-fastest time in the 400-meter race, while Kevona Davis rounds out UT's top-ranked individual sprinters at No. 6 in the 200-meter dash. Kristine Blazevica sits fifth in the heptathlon rankings and Elena Bruckner is eighth in the discus. Texas' 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relay teams are ranked second and third, respectively, this year.
On the men's side, the Longhorns currently hold six NCAA top-10 marks led by a pair of collegiate-leading jumps from O'Brien Wasome (triple jump) and Steffin McCarter (long jump). In addition, Charles Brockman III (No. 3 – 400m Hurdles) and John Rice (No. 3 – 3000m Steeplechase) have top-10 marks as individuals. The Longhorns' 4x400-meter relay team is currently the third-fastest nationally, while the 4x100-meter group sits eighth in the national standings.
Texas is slated to return to competition this weekend at the Michael Johnson Invitational in Waco, Texas. The meet is scheduled to take place on Friday at Saturday, April 16-17, at the Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium. UT will also send select individual competitors to the Roadrunner Invitational, hosted by UTSA, this weekend.
