The junior midfielder led the Longhorns in goals (five), assists (four) and points (14) during 2020-21
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas junior midfielder Julia Grosso was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region Third Team according to a Tuesday release from the organization.
For Grosso, this marked her third consecutive United Soccer Coaches All-Region selection (first team in 2019, second team in 2018). With her inclusion, the Texas program has now received 56 overall United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors dating back to 1995.
A 2021 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List choice, Grosso managed to make her usual strong impression on the pitch for the Longhorns throughout the split 2020-21 campaign. The Vancouver, British Columbia, product started all 12 matches in the midfield (played 1,055 of 1,080 possible minutes) for the Burnt Orange & White and led the squad in goals (five), assists (four) and total points (14).
The 2020 All-Big 12 Conference Second Team selection was especially effective during the spring portion of the campaign, scoring goals in three straight matches for the first time in her illustrious career. Included were match-winners to defeat both Texas State (March 5) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (March 26) as well as a goal and two assists during a 4-0 rout of Baylor (April 1) in Waco. For her efforts, Grosso earned a pair of Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week honors (Oct. 13, 2020 & April 6, 2021).
