AUSTIN, Texas – Texas women's golf senior Agathe Laisne was selected to compete with Team International at the Arnold Palmer Cup on Tuesday. It will mark Laisne's second appearance with the International squad, following a 2019 appearance in the Arnold Palmer Cup.
Laisne, a native of Paris, France, has received numerous accolades throughout an impressive collegiate and amateur career thus far. During her time at Texas she has earned first-team WGCA and second-team Golfweek All-America honors, both in 2019. She also was the individual medalist at the 2019 Big 12 Championship and named the Big 12 Player of the Year. Laisne also competed in the Augusta National Women's Amateur and was an Arnold Palmer Cup international team member as a sophomore in 2019. In the classroom she has excelled as well, earning WGCA All-American scholar status in 2018 and earning a spot on the Academic All-Big 12 First Team in 2019.
On the course, Laisne has played for the French National Team since the age of 13 and was a member of the European Team's Solheim Cup junior squad in 2016. She was crowned the European Ladies Champion in 2017 and won two Ladies European Tour Access Events – the Lavaux Ladies Open and the Santander Golf Tour Lauro – last year. Laisne also finished third at the European Ladies' Amateur.
Laisne has played in 29 tournaments at the collegiate level, averaging 73.16 strokes per round. Thirty-three times she has shot par-or-better, including 14 rounds in the 60s, as a Longhorn. She has amassed nine top-10 finishes during her collegiate career, including three this season and one win at the 2019 Big 12 Championship. Her three top-10s this year have come in her last three appearances, finishing second at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational, sixth at the Mountain View Collegiate and fourth at the 2021 Big 12 Championship last month.
Laisne is currently ranked No. 17 in the Women's World Amateur Golf Ranking. She and the Longhorns are scheduled to compete in the NCAA Louisville Regional beginning next Monday, May 10, at the University of Louisville Golf Club in Louisville, Ky.
