No. 10 Women’s Golf on top after opening round at St Andrews Links Collegiate

Farah O’Keefe leads the Longhorns and is in second place individually after an opening 5-under 67.
ST ANDREWS, Scotland— The No. 10 Texas Women's Golf team carded a 5-under round on Monday and have a six-stroke lead after the opening round of the St Andrews Links Collegiate at historic St Andrews Golf Club. Senior Farah O'Keefe posted a 5-under 67 in her opening round and is in second place in the individual standings.
The format of the tournament is six players to count five scores during the 36 holes of stroke play. In the opening 18 holes Texas counted scores from Farah O'Keefe (5-under 67), Charlotte Naughton (2-under 70), Selina Liao (1-under 71), Isla McDonald-O'Brien (1-over 73) and Lauren Kim (2-over 74). Anastasia Hekkonen carded a 7-over 79.
Texas holds a six-stroke lead in the team standings at 5-under 355, Washington is second at 1-over 361. Penn and University of St Andrews are tied at 5-over 365.
O'Keefe birdied seven holes on the way to a 5-under 67. Hannah Ounap has the overall player lead at 6-under-par. Charlotte Naughton playing in her first collegiate even for Texas carded a 2-under 70 and is T3 on the individual leaderboard.
The St Andrews Links Collegiate continues with a final 18 holes of stroke play on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Tee times for Tuesday's round will begin at 3:30 a.m. Central (9:30 a.m. Scotland) from the 1st tee. Golf Channel will provide live coverage on Tuesday from 8-11 a.m. Central.
Following the conclusion of stroke play, the four competing teams will be seeded into match play on Wednesday. The top two seeds will meet in the championship match, while the number three and four seeds will face off in the third-place match. They will play medal match play format.
The Lineup
Farah O'Keefe fired a 5-under 67 in the first round of the tournament. O'Keefe made birdies on holes 1, 3, 4, 11, 12, 15 and 18. She played the back nine in 4-under. O'Keefe is in solo second place and one stroke back of the lead.
Charlotte Naughton carded a 2-under 70 for her first collegiate round. Naughton birdied three of her first six holes and played the front nine in 4-under. Naughton is T3 on the individual leaderboard.
Selina Liao birdied holes 3-5 and added birdies on holes 16 and 17. Liao carded a 1-under 71. Liao is T5 on the player leaderboard.
Isla McDonald-O'Brien made three birdies in her round on the way to a 1-over 73 in the first round of play. McDonald-O'Brien is T10 on the individual leaderboard.
Lauren Kim got off to a good start with a birdie on the first hole. Kim added birdies on holes 6 and 11 and finished at 2-over 74.
Anastasia Hekkonen birdied holes 1 and 8 and carded a 7-over 79.
