Men’s Golf places eight on Academic All-Big 12 First Team

The Longhorns had eight student-athletes honored as first-team Academic All-Big 12 selections.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Men's Golf placed eight student-athletes onto the Academic All-Big 12 First Team this spring, the league office announced Wednesday. The Longhorns' eight first-team honorees were second-most among all Big 12 programs.
The eight Longhorns to make the Academic All-Big 12 First Team were Christoffer Bring, Parker Coody, Pierceson Coody, Nick Costello, Cole Hammer, Drew Jones, Mason Nome and Will Thomson. Jones was one of 12 golfers, among both men's and women's golf programs in the league, to be recognized with a 4.00 grade point average.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.
